Heat and Isolated Rains in Mexico City

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) reported that this Sunday, May 4, 2025, a heatwave will prevail in the Valley of Mexico. A mostly clear environment is expected during the early hours of the day, with cold weather in the high areas of the region. In the rest of the metropolitan area, a mild climate is forecasted for the morning.

In the afternoon, the sky is expected to become partly cloudy to cloudy, with a possibility of isolated rains in Mexico City and scattered showers in the State of Mexico. The precipitation could bring accumulations of between 0.1 and 5 millimeters in the capital and from 5 to 25 millimeters in the State of Mexico over a period of 24 hours.

The warm environment will persist throughout the day, which will contribute to maintaining the active heatwave affecting the central region of the country. Winds from the south are expected at speeds between 10 and 20 kilometers per hour, with gusts that could reach 30 to 50 kilometers per hour in various areas of the Valley of Mexico.

The forecasted temperatures are a maximum of between 29 and 31 °C for Mexico City, while the minimums will range from 15 to 17 °C. Given this situation, authorities recommend avoiding prolonged sun exposure between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM, staying well-hydrated, and not engaging in intense physical activities outdoors during peak heat.

The SMN also warned that the rains may be accompanied by electrical discharges and hail, mainly in some areas of the State of Mexico. Therefore, the population is advised to stay alert to official notifications and take precautions against possible flooding or traffic disruptions.
